Waterco ensures sustainability during periods of drought and peak energy demands

Sydney, Australia, February 19, 2020 – Australia’s first eco-certified pool featuring Waterco’s (ASX:WAT) Hydrostorm 100 ECO-V variable speed pump and MultiCyclone technology has been praised by experts  as a significant step for the sector – and consumers who value water and energy as precious commodities.

Brisbane Prestige Plunge Pools is leading the way, becoming accredited by Climate Care Certified (CCC) – an initiative of the Swimming Pool & Spa Association of Australia Ltd (SPASA).

SPASA CEO Lindsay McGrath says it is the first swimming pool in Australia to receive certification after satisfying the program’s stringent requirements. “This Climate Care Certified pool is an industry first and reflects the philosophy of SPASA Australia to provide sustainable solutions so consumers can love their swimming pool and the environment at the same time,” he explains.

Waterco group marketing director Bryan Goh says third-party certification authenticates a product’s green credentials while providing confidence to eco-conscious consumers. “This program shows that you can experience the lifestyle benefits pool and spa ownership brings and do so without compromising the environment,” he says.

Collaboration leads to certification

Through the collaboration, Brisbane Prestige Plunge Pools was able to incorporate Waterco’s Climate Care

Certified Hydrostorm ECO-V Pump and MultiCyclone into its Climate Care package, and also its M3 Dolphin Supreme Robotic Pool Cleaner, Trimline CC 50 Filter and Britestream SLIM90 LED pool light.

“The 8-Star energy-rated Hydrostorm variable speed pump reduces energy usage by up to 82 per cent and its ultra-quiet operation is appealing to consumers,” says Brisbane Prestige Plunge Pools director Geoff Smith. “Waterco’s MultiCyclone pre-filters up to 80 per cent of the filter’s incoming dirt load, easing the workload of the swimming pool filter.

Smith says Waterco understands that consumers want to make socially and morally responsible choices when it comes to owning a pool. “We are proud to be leading the way by fostering best practice and ensuring the sustainability of the industry, particularly during periods of drought and peak energy demands.”

Swimming pools with a conscience

With urban housing blocks shrinking and energy prices rising, plunge pools have become the perfect solution for the modern Australian backyard. Smith explains: “Plunge pools can be a cost-effective, environmentally-friendly option, which is positioned either in-ground, partially out of ground or aboveground,” he says. "Gone are the days of weeks and months of a building site in your backyard –  our precast pools are fully installed and ready to swim in within two days.”

Climate Care Certified

An initiative of the Swimming Pool & Spa Association of Australia Ltd (SPASA), CCC supports, protects and promotes the way the industry operates and strives for best-practice solutions.

“Our process undergoes independent, third-party verification of all products, systems and installations,” says Swimming Pool and Spa Association (SPASA) CEO Spiros Dassakis. “It’s both credible and reliable and gives power back to the consumer who is concerned about using less water and saving money.”
